Mean Girls Leads Broadway.com Audience Choice Award Winners; Ethan Slater, Hailey Kilgore Also Take Top Prizes

Each year since 2000, Broadway.com has asked our readers to pick their favorites of the season in our annual Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards. The 2018 results are in! After receiving 12 Tony Award nominations, Mean Girls has topped the Broadway.com Audience Choice Award wins with eight. Mean Girls’ standout performer Barrett Wilbert Weed triumphed with three wins, while her co-star Grey Henson and SpongeBob SquarePants leading man Ethan Slater each won two awards. Acting honors also went to Once On This Island star Hailey Kilgore, Angels in America lead Andrew Garfield, Lobby Hero player Chris Evans and The Parisian Woman stars Uma Thurman and Philippa Soo.


Broadway.com Presents at the Tonys with Imogen Lloyd Webber Wins New York Emmy Award

The John Gore Organization proudly accepted a New York Emmy Award on April 14 in the category of Special Event Coverage (Other Than News and Sports) for Broadway.com Presents at the Tonys with Imogen Lloyd Webber. The Tony Awards special was executive-produced by John Gore, Lauren Reid and Rich Jaffe, produced by Paul Wontorek, co-written by Wontorek and Beth Stevens, and directed by Dana Calderwood. This marks the first Emmy Award for Broadway.com and the John Gore Organization, which also received nominations for Broadway Profiles with Tamsen Fadal: And the Tony Goes To… and At the Tonys with Imogen Lloyd Webber in the Arts: Program/Special category.

Our Town Benefit Raises $500,000 for Hurricane Maria Community Relief Fund

Scarlett Johansson and The John Gore Organization raised $500,000 toward the relief efforts in Puerto Rico in the wake of the devastation left by Hurricane Maria with a star-studded benefit reading of Thornton Wilder’s classic play Our Town on November 6 at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre. The evening featured Tony winner Scarlett Johansson along with her Avengers co-stars: Oscar nominee Robert Downey Jr., Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner, Tony nominee Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Frank Grillo and Maximiliano Hernandez.

Arthur Miller Foundation Receives Donation from John Gore Foundation in Support of NYC Public Schools

Broadway.com and The John Gore Foundation have announced their support of the Arthur Miller Theater Education Program with a donation to support theater education in New York City public schools. The John Gore Foundation will be providing three years of support for new theater teachers hired for the 2017-2018 school year.

Miles Wilkin Wins 2016 Special Tony Award

John Gore Organization Vice Chairman Miles Wilkin was honored with a Special Tony Award at the 2016 award show on June 12th.

“Miles paved ‘the road’ for the modern Broadway touring system, and his accomplishments have been monumental and central to the success and economic growth of our industry,” said Charlotte St. Martin, President of The Broadway League, and Heather Hitchens, President of the American Theatre Wing, in a statement. “Because of his innovative and groundbreaking touring systems, theatre fans across the country have been able to experience the magic of Broadway.”
